May Run Small Please consult the size chart and check your measurements before ordering; this item tends to run small
Mountain Bike Knee Pads These knee pads use body-mapped, impact-absorbing SmartFlex padding that stays flexible while you cycle but hardens on impact
Breathable Knee Protectors The knee guard has non-irritable flatlock stitching, breathable mesh backs, and a hard shell case for comfort
Mountain & Dirt Bike Gear These knee pads have a 4-layer ventilation system and an adjustable strap for customized support and comfort
Protective Gear for Dirt Bikes The CE 1621-1 certified knee guards have rugged pad coverings that fight abrasions; the zipper offers easy on and off
Key things to note:-smaller than you think (in a good way)-comfortable but requires some attention (zipper)-warm but cool compared to others with similar protection-easy on/off but requires some attention (zipper)-pads can't be removed for cleaning-both top and bottom of pads stay in place and do not distract at all going downhill.Based off pictures and higher than normal thigh measurements, I assumed these pads were going to be huge. They are actually pretty compact for the amount of protection even with the skid guard!I am 6ft tall 175lb and based off gforms size guide, I ordered size small. The hook&loop straps wrap around my leg and fully hide the velcro material on the thigh where the calf area has about 1in remaining. So sizing appears to be correct with room to spare if I start gaining some weight...Not very scientific but I tend to do a drop test with new pads to guage how effective the padding is. Dropped to my knees in my garage and felt no bone jarring effect or pain for that matter. Ion ktraze knee pads would sting a bit and jarring was a 7 on a scale of 10. 10 being painful. For more reference, my demon knee pads with d30 (similar to fox launch) were a 5/10. I would rate these elines a 2-3, surprisingly. While the pads are small they seem to protect the knee and everything around it pretty well. The plastic skid plate and padding underneath cover, just barely, the main knee cap. All the additional padding around the knee protects everything else and it's NOT that cheap spongy foam, it's very dense. With just the padding alone I feel protected. My main disappointment is all centered around the zipper but it's nothing that can't be overcome, just wish they did something different. First off zipping up the pad requires each end to be placed carefully all the way down in the track or it will zip up only the top 3/4 and easily come apart if flexing calf. Not a big deal, just make sure it's correctly zipped and your good. Second, the top "pocket" for the zipper can poke into my calf if the pocket stiching isn't placed flat and zipper isnt pushed into the pocket. Also not a big deal but requires extra attention when putting them on.All in all, a great purchase and would recommend to anyone. Any negatives I found with this pad are just what I found to be the learning curve for this pad and what might scare someone off.
